Want to experience the Caribbean of yesteryear? No cruise ships, souvenir stands or time-share hawkers. You will hear no planes, no trains, no automobiles. You will relax to the sound of water lapping on the shore, birds singing in the morning and wonder why you don't indulge in trips like this more often. There is something at Blackbird Caye Resort for everyone... scuba diving, sunfish sailboats, windsurfers, kayaks, canoes, and more. You can be as busy as you like (care to learn to sail?) or slow down and read a book under a coconut palm. A resort representative will meet you at the Belize City airport and escort you to a van for the 20 minute ride to the dock. Then you will board their fast 50 foot boat for the ride to Turneffe Atoll. In just over an hour you will leave the city life and be transported to your tropical island paradise. Hotel amenities The first time you set up your gear is the last time. The dive professionals at Blackbirds will set up your gear each morning and change your tanks after each dive. They plan 17 of the best dives around Turneffe and Lighthouse Atolls. While at Turneffe you will dive sites such as Blackbird Wall, Little Calabash Wall, Runway and The Elbow. At Lighthouse Atoll, you will dive the Blue Hole, Halfmoon Caye Wall, and Long Caye - all of which are world-class dive sites. Daily activities
packages include All packages include airport reception, boat transfers, lodging, meals, and use of hammocks and kayaks.* Dive package includes three dives per day, air, tanks, weights & belts. Other equipment available for rental. Transfers are on Saturday & Wednesday only. The transfer boat departs the Belize Tourism Village Marina between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. Note that flights must arrive at Belize International by 2:00PM. From the marina it is approximately 1 1/4 hour scenic boat ride to the island. Departure from the island is approximately 8:00 A.M. Flights may depart any time after 1PM.
At the front of the main dock is our huge palapa syle restaurant and lounge area. Fresh island cuisine is prepared with native foods by our chef and served by a gracious staff, friendly and eager to serve you. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style with something for everyone. Afternoon snacks are served by the bar or in the dining palapa. Dinner is served to you at your table with usually a choice between two of the following: meat, chicken or fish. Your evening meal is complete with home-made dessert. Coffee, tea, juices and water are available all day. We can cater to any special dietary needs with advance notice. Room Categories The Cabanas: All of Blackbird Caye Resort's private individual cabanas face the Caribbean Sea. The cabanas have private porches with chairs, hammock, an interior seating area, double or queen beds, a private bathroom with shower, hot water and daily maid service. Triplex: The triplex features a huge front porch facing the Caribbean Sea. Each of the private rooms has a private bathroom, with double beds and daily maid service. Duplex: The Duplex also features a large front porch with both rooms having their own private baths and double beds. Hotel Policies Children are always welcome at Blackbird Caye Resort. Children 6 & under are free, 7-11 half price when sharing a room with parents. Children 12 & older are full price. No discounts for certified divers under age of 12. Baby sitting is available upon request with advance notice (fee paid at resort) .
